Well I won't do that again

Had my camera tethered to my laptop on a photoshoot this morning.  I took a phone call and as I was walking back to my camera after adjusting my model.  I tried to quickly jump the cable and ended up stepping on it.  Knocking down my laptop on the ground and ripped the cable out of my camera and damaging the connection port in the camera.  Crap.

I guess I'll be on the phone with Nikon support today.  :(

Have you tried taping it to your tripod leg?

Use a coat hanger.  It's kind of gheto, but it will work.

Tape the wire on the ground.  You'll never have that happen again.  Just a PITA.

These ideas are amusing, but have you considered NOT jumping over your gear?

Why so serious?

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure....Don't take chances like that in the future....

That sucks.  I usually will just run the wire down a leg of tripod and tape on floor.  Good luck with the fix.

I know huh?
I guess that saving a couple of steps did not turn out too well. I am sorry to hear you did that, but unfortunately this is how the best lessons are learned, and that is the hard way.
Trust me. Been there, done that, rinse, and repeat.

Hope nothing was damaged too badly! Unfortunately, I think it takes an accident like this one to really be aware of the precautions necessary in protecting your gear.

Ouch. I always try to keep a roll of gaffers tape in my camera bag to prevent this sort of thing from happening.

OOF. Hope that everything is okay! Sounds like your equipment earned some battle scars. It's awful but it happens to seasoned photographers and newbies alike.

That would have been my advice too...
