How many sweet 16 shoots are you doing?

7 years 6 months ago #498363 by Ruby Grace
Just want to share a tip with you all.  A couple months ago, I started to advertise that I specialize on sweet 16 birthdays.  My weekends have been nearly completely booked with these for the last month.  I get a few calls per week coming in.

Might be worth to focus your advertising efforts on a specific type of gig.

Hope this helps!

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, 17-40mmL, 24-105mmL, 100-400mmL, 300mm f/4L IS, Sigma 12-24mm, 430EX, Extension tubes

It will not help in my country. We have matric farewell (your prom) and maybe a 21st, although they went out of fashion.

Not enough to say.  I shoot mostly events and wedding these days.  Although I'll give you a bump so others may find this tip.

Did one last November.  So not enough to really say I focus on these.  However my neighbor has been struggling with trying to get her photography business started.  I'm going to share your tip with her.

Good tip.  Join parenting meetup groups.  I meet a TON of my clients in these meetings.  Always check with the organizer first.  Let them know you would like to engage with their members.

I'm getting usually around 1 per month.  Now, I'm keeping busy with other sorts the rest of the time.

I focus on portraits and weddings.  I've done 1 sweet 16 party in the last year.  That's it for me.

Not so much for sweet 16's. More portraits, corp events and weddings.

I did 2 sweet 16 parties in the last 6 months.  I don't market specifically for this, these were both referrals.

I do mostly weddings.  Geez, in the last 6 months I have done only 2.  Would have been 3, however 1 had to cancel.

Canon 7D, 18-55mm, 55-250mm, 70-200mm L f/2.8, 100mm and 17-55mm f/2.8

I've never shot a sweet 16 – but it seems like specifically marketing your ability to do so has really worked out well!

Didn't even realize that it was common to get a picture taken for one's sweet 16. You learn something new every day.
