Turning my garage into photography office/studio

7 years 6 months ago #501517 by Jessa Layton
We have two 2 car garage's part of our home.  One of them I'm going to close off and use for a photography studio and office.

In terms of the flooring, what would you do?  Paint or lay tile?

 I'd lay carpet....

Why so serious?

Carpet for sure if possible. Makes it feel a bit more comfortable, which you want to some extent in an office.

I hate to disagree, but for a garage space I would paint the floor, and perhaps use an area rug for the clients sitting area. The reason is if the other side is remaining a garage/work area, and something causes a spill into a carpeted area, you would be forced to replace the carpeting. You can get some of that floor paint at the home centers that has festive sprinkles, and crap to make the floor look cheerier.

Paint the floor and add some rugs.  If you put carpet, it might collect moisture.  And then it will stink.

Rugs on a painted floor, best of both worlds...

+1 paint and rug, best option.  If the rug get's wet or needs to be aired out, that will be easier to deal with.

You could always go with rubber mats.  Like -  www.samsclub.com/sams/floor-tile-perf-bl...990&wl17=1o8&veh=sem

Those tiles are a good idea, however painting the floor will be much cheaper
