Why isn't B&H and Adorama open on Friday and Saturdays?

I understand they are Jewish and their religion says so.  However why not have non Jewish work Friday and Saturday?

They don't have enough non Jewish to remain open then. Its not a big deal, just shop when they're open, right?

Well you would expect they would take a few bucks from their profits and just hire a few people.  I'd bet the profits would offset the cost.

They don't lose a nickel closing Friday night to Saturday night. I always wait if they have something I want....

Orthodox Judaism doesn't permit hiring someone else to do the work you are forbidden to do. And, you can order on line at any time.

I think they're open on Fridays, at least Adorama is, they just close early. So do many local businesses in my area, they close at 4 usually on Fridays and are closed Sundays, depends on what it is.

There seem to be a lot of synagogues in Manhattan and I think this has always been standard practice for many local businesses there. Stores like Adorama may or may not be considered a 'small' business these days with internet sales, but as far as only having one store they're still local, not a chain or big box store.

Check their schedules, Adorama seems to have some internet only sales during the longer holiday breaks, so maybe they do have some staff come in and work certain hours online without opening the storefront.

Probably not...see above.
The B&H "booth" at the PDN show was manned by a regiment of salespeople on Friday, till 4pm (sundown). Today, not a soul in sight. The online sales are handled automatically, and they will ship when actual people return.

Can't say I've been that hard up for something that I had to have that moment to make this matter.

A lot of businesses in my neck of the woods close their doors on Sundays, and I don't see how this is much different or any more inconvenient. Clearly, they don't need to stay open to thrive.

As others have said, they're very prideful in their religion.
