Framing your own prints

7 years 5 months ago #503518 by Overread
I would like to start framing my own prints.   I'm able to print larger sizes now and want to give the framing building a shot.  Where are you buying your framing supplies from?

Also, for the framing jig, would it be ok to build one or should I get something that is metal?

And if you want to mention any "good to know's" feel free to do so.  Thank you!

Tools, tools, tools. A good compound miter saw, a router, and a good joiner tool is about all you need to start. It like shooting the photographs is something you need to practice. So what you do is use scrap wood, and play with it a bit. Also you can get the saw, and router on CL most likely at a good price. I see tons of tools going cheap there, and auctions/estate sales in your area too. A friend just picked up a Sears radial arm saw for $25 at an auction. I knew I should have went that night.

There are some companies that sell some kits that make it super easy and you don't need any tools.
