Landscape JPG colors

I always shoot in RAW+JPG mode.  And hardly ever use the JPG for myself.  But I do enjoy helping beginners, it's not uncommon for beginners to stick to JPG for years.  So I want to see photography through their JPG eyes.  And from a techy viewpoint it's fun to see just how well the camera firmware engineers are doing (or aren't).  If I were strictly a pro shooter, and not a blogger, then I wouldn't bother with JPG.

Interesting, I never realized that there was much variance between the ways different camera brands record color. Pretty cool stuff

Yup.  And once you bring AutoISO into play, there are also variances in AE programming to consider.  Some engineers make some odd choices!

I'm surprised with the results.  I would have expected the Fuji to have the more vibrant colors.  So what sort of test is next for you with these?  Do you still have the Olympus?

Fujis are easily capable of greater saturation. Check out this article -

The rental for the Fuji was just for a few days, the camera has already been returned. So no more tests.

Yup, still have the Oly E-M5. I'm in no hurry to replace it. If I cannot find some low Fuji prices I may never replace it.

Thanks for sharing, that has me thinking.  I had been looking at getting a second camera body.  Are you shooting landscapes most of the time?

Yup. In a hobby way. I am not a professional. I also like to take in public festivals and dabble in street photography.

The Fuji would have popped a little more just by picking a different film simulation.
