Are SD memory cards sensitive to heat?

If you have your memory card in your pocket, can the heat from your body damage the card?

OK, thank you.  I thought heat harmed these things cards at certain heat levels.

You'll be fine, I've had mine go through a dryer and still worked.

If body heat destroyed SD cards, I'd be deep in trouble...I usually keep them in a protective case in my pocket when I'm out in the field.

No but I would not accidentally put them in the oven. They will have an operating temperature range at their website, or a retailers website in the specs.

It would have to get awful hot to damage one....

You would have to be the 'human torch' from Fantastic Four movie in order for your body heat to make any impact on your memory card.

I don't think that being stored in a pocket would cause damage as far as heat goes, but you probably run a much greater risk of accidentally crushing the card or losing it. Any time I store a memory card in my pocket, it seems to find itself into the laundry...

Mine survived a dryer run last year.  So that should say something about how durable these cards are.  Technically, mine made it though the wash before that too!

Doubtful. If the heat has any effect at all, I would imagine it wouldn't occur unless under extreme temperatures.. Left inside of a hot car in the middle of summer or inside of a running dryer might cause something funky, but your pocket should be just fine.

Same here, I've accidentally washed then dried a memory card in my pants and it still worked just fine afterwards.
