Camera keeps moving while positioned vertically on a tripod

I have Manfrotto 057 ball head and when ever I position the camera vertically, it never holds.  It will creep down during long exposures.  Are you able to keep your camera still with a 70-200mm vertically for long exposures?  Or does my ball head have issues that need to be addressed?

Mine only does that when the base gets a tad loose. So what I do is disengage the lever lock, and twist the base to tighten it up. Can't remember which model I have though.

+1 on an L bracket, but that said, It looks as though maybe you need a better Ball head.

Yup, the L bracket is the answer. Faster and also keeps the load over center....

Why so serious?

110% invest in an L Bracket, it will make your life much easier. Sounds like your ball head might be a bit weak.
