Traveling with other photographers?

Have any of you traveled and met other photographers to explore those areas?   I was looking travbuddy.com and found it to be interesting.

I take out some local photogs to teach them macro shooting & I've also met up with others from other forums for excursions. Lots of fun...

I've always been a solo act, however I'm thinking of doing a Kelby photo walk this year just to do it....

Why so serious?

That's what I was thinking is that it would make the trip much more fun.  Family members who aren't into photography always get annoyed with how long I take to frame up shots.  Figured other photographers would be right there with me.

Don't get me wrong, traveling with others is fun.  But when it comes to photography, I'm always solo and prefer it that way.  It allows me to get into my zone.

At the destination I've found it to be useful to get together with a local shooter for a better idea of how to get to the best spots.

Except maybe for a cruise, traveling with other photographers would not be my thing (exception for Victoria Secret models).

One thing I might mention is that on every excursion with other photographers, we all kinda split up while shooting but stayed in basically the same general area. It's not like we kept in a group. That goes for photo walks as well

Have some photographer friends that I've picked up here and there, but haven't ever done anything more than a day trip. It's nice to be with people that allow you to take your time and get the shot that you want without getting impatient. Hopefully I'll be able to do something for a longer period of time when I have a bit more expendable income...

+1 with Kelly here.  It's funny you talking about not being excited about a cruise.  I'm the same way.  For me, it just feels so confined.

I have a meetup group that I travel with often for local trips.  It's often more fun with small groups that you know well.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, 17-40mmL, 24-105mmL, 100-400mmL, 300mm f/4L IS, Sigma 12-24mm, 430EX, Extension tubes

I prefer being alone when I get and out and shoot.
