What happened to B+W filters?

6 years 6 months ago #545349 by Joe Photo Daddy
I've not needed to buy filters in a VERY long time.  I had a set of B+W's from a good 6-7 years ago.  Long story short, I misplaced my filter bag a few weeks ago and needed to get some new filters and just noticed the prices for B+W are way lower than I seem to recall.  Actually at least half.

Did something happen to the brand?  Are they still made the same way?  I didn't buy the replacements that I need because I want to make sure they are still the same quality filter.

Let me know please.  Thanks!

Joe

Some companies just fall out of the clouds and come closer to Earth.  Perhaps the market drove sales down, and they were forced to drop price to remain competitive.

Just my 2 cents.

Manufacturers normally make the same type of filter at different price points with differences accordingly in construction. Maybe the ones you saw were a less expensive line. Or possibly fakes...

:agree:
Yeah pretty much that. Was this the upper line that you were looking at? Because I have not heard that the quality dropped. Also at the level they were the competition is really stiff, so they may have indeed had to come down some. The only people I have not seen come down is Singh-Ray, they are still in orbit.

They certainly needed to become more price competitive. Having not bought one in years I can't speak to any drop in quality. Do read recent reviews before a purchase....

Why so serious?

I just noticed their polarized filters is $78, wasn't it close to $170?  It does seem to be a big drop if all the same.
