Photography Tour

While I was on my home, I saw some posters for Photography Tour just around Auckland.
Would you recommend joining a Photography Tour?
Is it helpful?

You'll get a lot of opinions on this one.  If you like tours in general, yes go for it.  If you are more of a solo photographer, this might not be a lot of fun for you.

I have not done a photography tour, but I've done group shoots. While I realize the two are different, the one thing that I imagine will be at least similar is the fact that you will probably be trying to shoot with a large number of other people around. That was the one thing that killed group shooting for me.....waiting for others to move out of the way and having to deal with someone else's schedule.

I can have a much more enjoyable time, go whenever and wherever I want and stay as long as I want if I go alone.

But, that's just me.

I may as well have copied and pasted the above sentiment. I agree with every word.....

Why so serious?

The one thing you might get from a tour is finding places and subjects to re-visit that you might not discover on your own. Then you can go back and take time to shoot.
Have done this on regular city tours and it works.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Oh, I am a solo-type. I thought I could learn more if I am in a group.

This is a good point as well. Noted man!

Personally not my cup of tea. I like to have free range when I'm out shooting and have a difficult time when others hold me back.

Was thinking about this the other day. No, no tour for me. However, if I have a chance to go out with another photographer, absolutely yes. Someone I know, with the same agenda, that I already get along with? That's a recipe for loads of fun.

I agree with that, and there are some pros I'd go shooting with, but not on a customer basis....I'm too set in my ways, and like my freedom.

I understand. I have reconsidered it already and weighed things out and decided not to join. Thanks to all of your ideas guys.
