Taking long exposures of stars with out the blur?

6 years 4 months ago #557025 by M Moore
Every time I try to take a long exposure of the stars, I get these trails.  I've seen shots where people have taken longer exposures and the stars are sharp little dots as they should be.

How are they doing this?

Unfortunately, there's not enough detail here.

"Longer exposures"? What length? What settings have you tried? Which lens? Are you following the rule of 500? You're using a tripod, right?

More detail will help you get an answer.

Multiple exposures, say one for the sky (yes, see 500 rule) and another for the foreground for as long as it takes....Blend in post.

Why so serious?
