Unexpected motivation and inspiration to my photography

6 years 3 months ago #559797 by digitalpimp
I got to go shooting with a couple film photographers earlier last week.  It was crazy fun!  Shooting and not knowing how the shots turned out.  I tell you one thing, it made you think 10X on each shot!

I just saw some of the photos taken and I think it's time I'm going to get a film camera!

What a load of fun!

Now I just need to figure out a good film camera to get.  Any tips/suggestions?

Thanks!

Nikon F100, you can probably still get them new, but a gently used model would be great. You can use your modern lenses on it for the most part. Mine's not for sale....

Why so serious?

Nikon FM10 is a good option too.

I would suggest the Nikon F100 as well.

My father still shots film and he loves it.  Can't help you on the camera selection, sounds like you got a couple recommendations already!

Well that's cool.  I have a number of older film cameras and it is fun getting out to shoot with them.  It's like listening to record vs digital music, or driving an antique car vs something new.  There is just so much classic appeal to it.

Enjoy!

That's one way of re-igniting the fun.  Kind of like having a daily driver, then on the weekends you bring out the 1956 Jaguar out of the garage.

I have a 35mm Minolta X700 that I pick up every now and then. However, if I'm using film, I much prefer shooting medium format. Long time Mamiya user.

Film is a ton of fun, especially if you don't plan to develop it!  Did you pick a camera yet?

I'm on and off with film.  More less these days, mainly because I just don't have time.  I have a Nikon FM2, which I've had since early 80's I want to say.  It's a blast to bring out, but get's old quick.  No replacement for digital.
