How are you dealing with grey Skies in Landscape Photography?

6 years 2 months ago #568210 by Roman Omell
We've had some grey skies during the last few times I've attempted to get out.  Rather annoying, but what can you do.  So this evening, I went searching for some answers and found a fairly interesting video where this landscape photographer gives 3 different examples on how you can still get good shots when cloudy out.

While here, feel free to leave any comments on how you handle grey skies.  Thanks!

I found this interesting and hope it might be helpful to you as well.

If you won't replace skies in post, you're stuck with what nature deals, of course. There are a couple places I've visited many times and still haven't had a decent sky. I'll keep trying...
Those tips are good....

Why so serious?

Converting images to B&W in post will work also.  Then get friendly with dodge and burning to add more contrast.

I sometimes frame lower to minimize the amount of sky in the photo. A polarizer can help with haze, etc.

Hmm... i moved from the UK to southern Spain.. nothing but boring relentless blue skies and sunshine on the Mediterranean coast, but it can get monotonous after a while :-)
