Preferred crop or sticking with certain aspect ratio?

Morning PT.   I was just thinking about this and wondering do most photographers crop their images to whatever looks best?   Or are photographers mostly sticking to a specific aspect ratio? So that to proportionally fit for example an A4/A5/A3 frame, or better yet a square shape?

Whatever the image demands, mitigated by intended use.

I pretty much crop as needed, or for the direction the photo is heading

Always as needed.  Which is most of my shots!

I only mess with aspect ratio if going in a particular frame size or request.  Otherwise, I crop to get rid of items I don't want in the photo.  Or to create a better photo.

If I need to crop, I crop.  If the end results need to be a certain aspect ratio, I'll set ahead of time.
