Back button focus doesn't work with shutter release

5 years 11 months ago #577228 by Kristy Blake
I picked up wireless shutter release and hit a snag.  It doesn't focus, because my camera is set to back button focus.  Is there a way to make this work?   I got the shutter remote to work when I reset my camera to normal shutter control.

Please help.

Thank you.

So you're probably set up on tripod and want to trigger remotely? What are you shooting that would require remote focus? You seem to have figured it out anyway....

Why so serious?

See, i read this as, "I hate having to reconfigure my camera to use a remote release."

Unfortunately, it looks like there's no option. Which seems kind of annoying.

Yeah, to my understanding there isn't a work around, you'll need to toggle that on and off from the menu controls if you want to use a trigger.

I use both back button and shutter remotes from time to time.  I always jump in manual settings and just toggle it on and off.  Very easy.  Less than 30 seconds.

Makes one wonder if a different brand of trigger would be any different...

I've tried a few, in the rare times (never) I need to focus remotely, I return to the default shutter button focus. It doesn't take thirty seconds, more like five.....

Not that I'm aware of.

:agree:   especially when you have done it a few times, it's quick.  My remote won't trigger the focus either, which I'm fine with that.  You'll see.  Spend a few weeks turning it on and off and zap... your set.
