Smugmug buys flickr

Talk about a blast from the past. I use to use flickr, but stopped years ago.  Hopefully Smugmug changes things.  Flickr use to be a site I visited daily.   Not in years I'm sorry to say.

This is good for flickr, it was in bad shape with Yahoo.  Smugmug will put more effort behind the brand.

Well, it's a start.  They still need to get a community heart beat going there, that won't be an over night process.

Talk about raising the Titanic.  Is MySpace next?

Seriously though, I stopped using flickr long ago.  The quality of the site just went into the toilet.  I understand Smugmugs move, wonder if the site will not take a turn of displaying more ads for Smugmug?

I wonder how much they paid for it.  Smugmug must be doing well to buy that form Yahoo.  But then again, Yahoo needs the cash, so they most likely got a good deal on it.

Well I hope this works out for them.  Will be interesting to see if they can respond the brand.
