Why hasn't Apple entered the full camera market?

I can't take credit for this question.  Someone had it posted on their Facebook page yesterday and no one answered it.

I thought about the question all day and honestly don't see why Apple hasn't.  With the success of their cameras that are integrated into their iPhones.  Why not?  Apple could bridge both together.  Seems like both markets would feed each other.

Do you agree?

Maybe that fakebook poster has no idea of the manufacturing effort, concept to product delivery? Why doesn't apple also make SUVs? etc.

Why so serious?

I don't agree at all.  The pro/enthusiast camera business is in decline.  Most of the decline has evolved because of the smart phone.  The market for the cameras that interest you will always be there but it will be smaller.  I just can't see Apple having any interest in a shrinking market.  Perhaps they will launch a rocket one day.

:agree:   Apple is right were the need to be.  Their current market is already putting strain on the rest of the camera market.  It wouldn't make sense to launch a DSLR camera.

Why don't Apple make a DSLR?

Um...have you seen their other products?

They start with a device that many other manufacturers make, then screw with it until you'd need a month to unlearn how to use the device, and relearn Apple's way of doing it...

:P

I think if they came out with one, I visualize it would be very clean of many buttons, white in color and aimed at the larger consumer market (aka, not professionals).
