H&Y Magnetic Filter Holder

5 years 10 months ago #587834 by Colorado Mike
Well YouTube just recommended this video to me and here's a new one.  Interesting idea, have any of you tried these or better yet even heard of this company?  From a construction standpoint, they look very well made (famous last words!)    Now they talk about popping Lee Filters into the frames.  So does that apply to other brand filters too?  I love the magnetic idea, especially if I can use other filters that I already own.

Also if you walking about, can you keep the filter on your camera with out having it fall off?

I agree, the frame looks very well built.  What I would like to know if that magnetic field would mess with the cameras internals?

Very nice.  I don't think the magnetic will mess anything up.  I wouldn't use with film cameras though.

So, I'm lost, how would you stick multiple lenses with this holder?  Meaning you want to use a 3 stop solid ND, and graduated ND, how would you stack these?

So you get any vignetting with that with wider lenses that offer focal ranges between 11 and 16mm?

Probably with a full frame body....

Why so serious?

So like the guy said in the video, so simple, why hasn't anyone come up with this sooner?

Is B&H the only one selling these?  I was looking for on Amazon and couldn't find.  Just B&H.

Is it all 100mm filters that will slide into that bracket?  That will speed up swapping your filter out.  Assuming it works.  So how is German glass compared to Japan made?

+1 can you use your NiSi filters with this bracket?  Vlogger should have clarified that.

IMO, there are 2 places you want filters made:  Japan or Germany.  B+W also makes their filters in Germany.

So I just watched the video.  As many of you know, I'm kind of new to photography and just bought my first polarized filter a few weeks ago.  I don't have any ND's yet.  Would these style of filters work across all different lens sizes (example 77mm and 67mm)?

Hey guys, I went digging myself, I couldn't find much of any useful video's on YouTube, but did find this one that says it can hold a number of different filters (go to :53) and shortly after that, it shows how you can stack filters.  Interesting.  Must be a new company as they don't have much of anything out there.  This video was from 2018.  So perhaps new company?

So if someone accidentally bumps into the camera or filter, will the filter just fall to the ground or does it stick on pretty well?

So what happens if the filters get wet? Does that interfere with how they hold onto each other?
