Photo stacking progams

5 years 8 months ago #595791 by bones1
I have been taking phots of the Milky Way for the last few months, when conditions allowed, but with no great success. I took them all in RAW, and I never tried stacking yet. When I did some reading about how to, on LR/PS, it sounds pretty, I guess in depth.
Is LR the best choice, as far as results vs. time effort go? Or are there better choices out there, for Windows users, which I am? If anyone is into Nightscapes and stacking, please let me know. Thank you.

What would be the purpose of stacking Milky Way images? Unless you're doing a time lapse.

Um, what do you mean when you say "no great success"?

Without knowing anything about your equipment and exposure, all that can be suggested is to go read up on astrophotography. Both in capturing images, and in processing them. There's -tons- of information out there, for both LR and PS.

As for stacking, +1 on "why"? We don't stack astro images, unless we want star trails. Certainly not the Milky Way.

Since some years now, I've adopted Helicon Focus for the
constant results… very happy!

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I used Helicon for a few years, changed out my computer and lost the license. CombineZ and Zerene are a couple other good stacking software....All offer free trial....but still, NOT needed for Milky Way processing.

Why so serious?
