As a pro photographer will you take your pro gear on vacation?

It all depends on where and why I'm going. If we are talking about a working trip to another city, I have enough of my old Nikon D90 and a pair of lenses. It is small and fits well in a travel bag. If we are talking about going to nature, or better in the mountains, then the best drone with 4k camera comes into play. With it, I can make awesome frames of landscapes from a bird's-eye view.

Generally speaking, I'll bring 1 body and 2 lenses with me.  That's about it.  Well that and tripod, filters and trigger release.

Minus lighting gear, Yes, I'll bring one camera bag with essentials and one tripod.  But then again, most of my gear will fit in a single roller.

As an experienced photographer, I'll take what I think I could need.  I don't bring everything, but usually what I could want serves me well.

Back when I was shooting for a living, I didn’t have a wife or kids.  Consequently, vacations were all about moi.  Back then I never/rarely picked up a camera on vacation.  My work involved a lot or travel, so often I’d take a stay-cation and just flop at the beach.  (I lived in Huntington Beach back then.). Now, vacations evolve family, so just the stuff required to document the vacation.

There are photographs everywhere. It is the call of photographers to see and capture those images.

PS- Now that we have an empty nest, I take a lot more stuff than on a “family” vacation.  Now vacations are a cross between a photo expeditation and a vacation.

My back hurts after carrying around a full  bag, so when I travel, I'm going lean as possible.  Which means for my photography gear on travels, I'm very much a minimalist.

Are you able to get that into a sling or back pack of some sort?
