Engagement photography without offering wedding photography?

I'm starting to really dislike shooting weddings.

Getting tired you can say.

Engagements are fun.  I've been thinking about shooting just the engagements.  Any of you doing that?  Shooting just engagement photography and NOT shooting the weddings?

Sure, why not… if the niche is there. But I doubt it.
One engagement is very likely a wedding too so
half the market.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I would be surprised to see a bullish market for just engagement shoots.  I would suspect that soon to be married couples want that connection between engagement shots and wedding.  Meaning same photographer.

Agree, most are going to want the same photographer for both.  I would be very surprised if you found much market for this.

Agree, your better off covering both.

Why not? Many engagements don't happen in the same places as weddings. Offer it and see how it works....

Why so serious?

True, it can't hurt to test your market.  Honestly, I'm just thinking about clients I've had and how important it was from start to finish to have that same feeling that further connects the engagement session to the wedding.

I'm working with a couple now that is having a destination wedding in Vegas. No photographer there, as far as I know. But I think this opportunity is quite rare, and I wouldn't want to plan a business around the concept.

Just switch to portraiture and focus on young couples, either pre-marriage, not-going-to-marry, or married-no-kids.
