How to calculate this field of view calculation?

Now if you have 2 of the same full frame cameras literally side by side bodies touching and they are mounted on single tripod with 50mm lenses mounted on both of them.  So there is roughly 30% overlap.  So combined field of view of this would be?

Actual FoV of the lenses x2 -30%.

Why don't you simply use one combo since there will be
some stitching anyway?

G'day Wayne

Unless you are trying to create 'full-3D stereo' images ... why bother with such an awkward setup?

Your 50mm lens has a FoV of around 40-42 degrees horizontal - so 2x 40 - 30% = ~60 degrees, which is the sort of coverage you'll get from a 28 - 30mm wide angle lens ... so why bother with an expensive setup "just" to get a wide-angle image?

Hope this helps

Yup, why complicate it?

Why so serious?

What are you getting at?

And more importantly, where did you get 30% overlap? The cameras aren't pointing in the same direction?

You didn't say what 50mm you have, so I picked the 50mm f/1.8.  And Nikon states that lens is roughly 46.5 degrees.  So you have 30% overlap going on, which leaves 70% or approximately 79 degrees.
