Best way to ship a camera body to Germany?

5 years 4 months ago #619868 by Chris Briggs
I have an old film body that someone bought in Germany.  I don't have any original packaging.  Any thoughts on how to ship this safely?

I'm thinking bubble wrap and then put in box of those peanut things?

That should keep it safe?

Peanuts, meh. They're annoying and should be outlawed.

The goal is to immobilize the item in a box that has integrity. Small bubble wrap it well, then use a robust box that is perhaps 3 times the dimensions in any direction and use large bubble wrap or paper wads. Securely tape the box along every open edge, top and bottom. The camera should not move at all inside the box. This approach goes for pretty much anything.

Then click "send". Oh, wait.... I mean, "ship it".

Not too much to it. Your challenge is managing the abuse that the package may undergo by the shippers.

Yep, or big bubbles. Important is that the camera is immobilised
tightly in the middle of the box.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

That would be fine, and send those styro peanuts to Germany. Many are made of corn now anyway....

Why so serious?

Bubble wrap will be enough in a good box, don't forget to insure it

Bubble wrap in a good strong box will be plenty.  *As long as the box is a snug fit to bubble wrapped camera.

Bubble wrap is plenty.  I wouldn't even bother with peanuts.
