Ebay does it again they are keeping my money on hold 21 days

5 years 4 months ago #620477 by Adam Kay
WTH, I just sold a lens on ebay and then I get an email from them saying that my money is on hold for 21 days??  They didn't say why, no links, nothing else.  I've been on ebay since 2009.  And I just sold something else with them 2 weeks ago and there was no hold.

Why has this happened?

Was this a PayPal transaction?

Probably a claim from buyer. You have probably been scammed. It happened to me three times, that's why I quit them.
I hope I'm wrong, but you need to get an answer from them.

They'll do that if the buyer paid with questionable funds.

Did you send the lens already? "Just" means "no", right?

Contact the buyer and tell them the lens ships when the money clears. If they have a good tx record, let them go straighten it out.

I'd bet the buyer used a stolen card or one that looked fishy to ebay.

This happened to me last year, at first I wasn't told much from eBay, then later found out it was triggered because the buyer had questionable funds used.

G'day mate

I stopped using PayPal 5 yrs ago after PayPal illegally froze my photo business account claiming that a series of 5x $295 transactions amounted to international money laundering. Ha Ha!!

It took 11 months of emails to go thru their bullsh$$$ until the account was unfrozen and immediately closed. Bugger them - I won't use them or recommend them to anybody

Im waiting in suspense to know if he sent the lens already.

A common scam is to try to make you give up the lens before you have actual cash in hand. I get emails regularly when I am selling stuff saying "I'll send you a money order and come pick it up. I'm making the MO out for the original amount, and an additional $XXX for the driver. When he shows up, please pay him the extra in cash so he can get paid when he picks up the item...".

Hope you get it worked out.

Why bother, all the seller needs to do is receive the package and claim "not as described", or "empty box", or the like. PP then freezes your money and all the responsibility of shipping proof falls on the seller. The scammer buyer has your glass, and PP holds your money.....If you left it there. They were mad I withdrew my money prior to shipping my old 18-200 zoom.
They then hit my empty bank account six times in two days, then messaged me the acct was empty. Six times 29 bucks from the bank as well?.........Not.
Bye bank, bye PP.

Why so serious?
