What would you charge to shoot a New Years party?

I've been asked to shoot a huge New Years party that has nearly 400 people.

So, it's last minute and I have plans already with family and friends.  However if I can make a decent buck.  I'll shoot it.

Just want to get a sense of what others would charge for this 6 hour gig  8pm till 2am?

Can you help me out with this, I need to submit pricing tomorrow.

Without conflict, holiday or family plans, I start at $300/hr, which includes delivery of fullsize edited JPGs.

That said, you are talking about
1) a full-day rate
2) a holiday
3) cancelling plans

It would have to be north of $2400 for me, and only if my plans weren't that important. The more important, the higher the premium.

IMO, of course.

I couldn't agree more.  New Years falls into 4 important family holidays/events:

1. My anniversary
2. Christmas
3. Thanksgiving
4. New Years Eve

I'm with Gary on this one.  IF I were to consider, it would have to be a crazy amount over my normal rate.  Actually New Years would be the only one (from the above list) that I would consider putting a price on.  The others are a 100% no fly zone.  That said, I would charge north of what Gary even mentioned, just because it's one of those sacred holidays that I would honestly prefer to be with my family.  So, no less than $3500 for the evening and even still I would be inclined to REALLY think about accepting the job.

$3000+

Just to much going on New Years with my family and friends each year.  Honestly, not sure I would take the job.

Good point!  Wife would kill me if I worked and missed our anniversary!
