Artificial Intelligence technology will kill the stock photography industry?

I'm intrigued with this article:  www.photographytalk.com/photography-arti...ted-these-fake-faces

However, thinking about what essentially this technology is doing.  Has me to believe this could be what kills the stock photography industry.  Could it not?

I mean if a computer program and spit out exactly what you are looking for in the future, why would there be need for stock photography in the traditional sense?

AI doesn't have much to do with it, and the referenced article has a bit of a misleading title, given that it's mostly about morphing, not AI. And morphing has been around for years.

Many products are rendered any more: cars, phones, etc. It's not new. So, computers and CGI at work.

We'll see continued development of software-based solutions to problems. Continued development of images through compositing. And improvement in composition techniques.

What killed the stock industry was Getty, multitudes of photographers, and low standards.

Getty, LOL that's an understatement.

Cool tech, but I don't think this will have an effect on the stock industry as much as you think.  I think stock is suffering from other factors.

How do you kill what is already dead?

Didn't Getty already ruin stock photography? lol Unless you're taking hundreds of photos per week, I don't know how people are even making money anymore. Am I missing something?

Stock photos do seem like they could be fun though, even if you didn't do it for money exclusively. I see couples and teams going around in public places, hotels, resorts etc and just having fun with silly set ups, like standing in the kitchen cutting an already cut loaf of bread.

Earlier, I've come across this article here:  petapixel.com/2018/12/17/these-portraits...-these-people-exist/ . It looks kinda scary to me :)  what if all the machines become more intelligent and smarter than humans? We might need our Terminator then.
BTW, what do you think about AI in photo editing? What's better?

You know what, I'm surprised Amazon hasn't jumped into the stock photography space yet!
