How to photograph falling snow with off camera flash?

5 years 3 months ago #623888 by Great Moments
I'm up visiting my brothers place in Canada and was trying to photograph some falling snow today with an old run down house as the backdrop.  Does it matter if the flash fires on the front or rear?

The bigger problem is the slow flakes have this blueish color to them.

Or actually should I bump up exposure compensation by a stop or two?

If you see a clock face in front of you – you are at 6 looking at 12,
the light source could be between 1.5 to 2.5… controlling DoF is ra-
ther critical as it will have dramatic effect on the rendered image.

Snow is highly reflective so your idea of tweaking with exposure
compensation is the right one. The histogram, as always, will be
your best friend!

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Why not just use a slightly warm color gel on your flash?
