Standard practice for canvas companies to saturate your photos prior to print?

5 years 3 months ago #626080 by Eliffman
I just got my print back from print shop and the colors are dark and image is over saturated.  I'm telling the rep I don't like it, he stated that all canvas shops will bump up saturation.  Which I find hard to believe.

Can you comment on this?

No, not true.  Some will likely do that to make the image seem more punchy.  You need to clarify upfront to not do that.

1) Not all companies do that.
2) We don't care if they do or not. Making that claim is misdirection.
3) Many print services will bump up images before printing them, so you have to find someone that will use your file as-is.

I had this problem with one company, and they reprinted for me. But I still disliked the result. So part of it is who you use. You don't mention the vendor, but their reply is specious. If they won't redo, take it as a lesson and move on. There are people out there who know what they're doing, you just have to find them.
