Litra light vs lume cube in cold weather?

5 years 3 months ago #626408 by Monster
I'm up in Alaska for next 27 days helping out some family.  I want a couple good strong constant lights to mess with some light painting.  But then I started to think how our camera batteries if left out, drain fast in the cold.  So, seeing that these Litra and Lume cubes are basically a cube with a battery and light bulb stuffed in them.  Not much to protect them against the cold.

So which of these will hang longer in colder weather?

Get yourself an LED flashlight. Like a Smith & Wesson Galaxy 28. Much less expensive, and can be had in colors. And some Eneloops.

I don't think a Lume cube is the right tool for light painting? I could be wrong.

Electrical or electronic stuff will not suffer from the cold
but from prolonged exposure to excessive humidity due
mainly to inner condensation.

Gary's suggestion of Eneloop is good. Leave the gear in
the cold but get the batteries inside for recharge.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Yeah these will work great, you can dim them and they put out a warm tone.

Regarding your question, yeah these will be just fine.  Both of these lights kick off a bit of heat, so you'll be fine.

Lume cube will be fine, when not in use, keep it in your pocket.

Good point on the heat.  Both recently came out with new lights. You should be good in cold.

I just made a post here about shooting a car show.  Would one or two of these lights work for something like that?

Don't know, but I'll let you know what I think!  Went with Lume Cube
