I never post Kickstarter crap, but this has got to be one of the coolest things I've seen.

That has limited utility; a GorillaPod is much more flexible in potential applications.

This tool certainly will find a place on store shelves and
shooters' bags. It is just another clever solution like the
GorillaPod was/is and will not be a replacement but may
well be an alternative for some.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

So does the GorillaPod.  Both aren't going to save the world against a meteorite. I wasn't saying that.  They both are portable means to hold your camera.  Both have limited utility.  However, the GorillaPod has some restrictions to it.  For me, I think this Kickstarter thing solves those issues.  I liked the idea of the GorillaPod, but never used my because it was awkward to position, I never trusted it to be wrapped around a tree branch for example.  It was big and bulky.  This thing solves these, with the exception of connecting to a tree.  Ergonomically it looks like it would be held more comfortable.

Got me, I saw this thing and at least for me, it solved the problems that I disliked with my GP.

Great for the vloggers.  Interesting design.  Innovating.

That's what that Peter guy is, a vlogger.

Not a goner, but definitely they will lose market share to this company.  Joby might be a has been product that filled the gap at one point.  I do know they have some extremely loyal users.  My brother in law for one.  That guy owns 5 or 6 Gorillapods and that is nearly all he uses.  He's both a photographer and vlogger, so this will be interesting to see how the market accepts this new product.

+1 Gorilla pod is far from closing doors.  This thing will certainly give them a run for their money.  Competition will be good for Gorilla pod.

I'm starting a travel and photography vlog this year. I'd love to have this.

I think the idea is solid and it will successfully replace a Gorillapod in many situations. Gorillapods have an obvious advantage on uneven terrain, but I would have a hard time trusting them even then with their short legs and tendency to tip over.

I wonder what is the durability of that spring action that kicks the legs out?
