Minimum Object Distance and image quality.

Hello,

I am considering buying a lens whose working distance is 250(mm)-inf. I am using a set-up to acquire images, and the distance between the lens and the object is around 25 cm in this set-up. My question is that when you focus on an object that is placed a distance smaller than the  Minimum Object Distance (MOD), what would be the effect on the image acquired?

Thank you in advance!

Minimum distance is the distance at which the lens can focus. Closer than that, and you won't get focus.

Result: blur.

The minimum focus distance — what you designate as MOD — may
be very different from a lens to another but always specify the shor-
test distance between the object and the minimum focus plane that
can be acquired and confirmed.

I said: "… may be very different from a lens to another…" but it will al-
ways result, express itself. in two non exclusive ways: shallower DoF
and micrometrical displacement values — read way less tolerance in
terms of distance to the given subject.

The most dramatic effect of shooting under that said minimum distan-
ce will be that the subject will fall out of focus very, very fast.

Light is free… capturing it is not!
