Renting a helicopter for photographing city from aerial view

Have you been in a helicopter for the purpose of taking photos?  I've called a couple places and they don't open the doors, which means you are stuck photographing through the windows.  I'm kind of wondering how people get those crazy photos from the air, but they don't open the doors for you?

probably through contacts and friends, and maybe some of the photographers are pilots, fire, police etc

Possibly the wrong phrasing, not that it should make any difference. I'm pretty sure they don't just open the door in flight. Instead the door is completely removed prior to flight. Which means they also install a special safety harness for you. So the customary term is "door off flight". I am surprised you could not find any that offer this.

Tim, I just sent you a PM, hope that helps you.  That company is nation wide and will bring up photographers for decent rate.  Try using a polarizer in flight, that will help cut down the glare from the windows.
