My wife and I will be in Northern Ireland in May for a wedding.  Do you happen to know if the northern lights can be seen from there during that time of the year?

Ummm, yes but…
The best viewing time in Ireland is usually somewhere between 9PM
and 1AM from November to February.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

haha. No seriously. I grew up where the red dot is, and I have never in my life heard of anybody that has seen the northern lights unless you travel up way north towards the green dot. Just doesnt happen.

And look at the relation to Ireland.....I'm not saying it cant happen, but its probably not super common.

Possible, when the solar activity is cranked up

Those should help you out.

So it looks like a possibility then.  Which for me, is exciting.

Let me spin this thread a different direction: if you were heading to Northern Ireland and willing to drive upwards of 3 hours.  Where would you go to photograph while visiting?

BTW, thanks for the responses!

I can't comment on the northern lights, but it looks like you got your answers.  Moving forward, I would rather go there during summer months, early summer months to experience the bright green plants and grass.
