What happened to having cameras advertised in TV?

Do you remember the last TV commercial you saw that advertised a camera?  I can't.  Years ago I remember Canon commercials all over, Nikon had Ashton Kutcher ads, and even Sony with their Taylor Swift ads.

I honestly can't say that I've seen an ad for any camera in the last 3-4 years.

Have you?

I don't have a TV at home since 2 decades but, now that
you mention it, I remember a commercial about Kodak's
110 film format cameras.

I don't watch normal TV much any more, just iTunes.

What's funny, is that I went to YouTube to search, and spent 30 minutes looking over there at everything but my original search of "2019 camera commercials"!

Going back and finishing up my search

Here is the only one I could find

Plenty of Tv camera commercials.  Google/YouTube: iPhone, Samsung, camera phone, et al.

The world has evolved.  I imagine that those who desire a dedicated camera constitute a very small market ...

There are photographs everywhere. It is the call of photographers to see and capture those images.

Actually that makes sense, when targeting the masses, and considering the coin they need to spend for every 30 seconds of TV time, might as well market to the largest pool of people you can.  Who doesn't own an iPhone or Samsung?  Compare that to who would be the on the market for DSLR.  Better yet, the commercials that we did see targeted people interested in point and shoot cameras, those were pretty much killed off with the iPhone and Samsung phones.

Nothing has stopped, just the market has shifted.  You are seeing the new cameras advertised, which happen to be iPhone or Samsung.

Not even… they are still — like it was — mass products, aren't they.

Imagine TV commercials for hi-end products…

They also know that their main customer base no longer watches TV, but instead uses social media and Netflix for all of their viewing and listening needs.  Scroll through social media and you’ll see where all the advertisements have gone.

I think a lot of major companies shift away from classic advertising anyway. There is no reason for them to advertise these ways considering they might be targeting investors more than customers at this point, considering they have already built a reputation.  Investors help research and development greatly as well as helping to grow the company.

Exactly, I don't watch TV these days.  Very rarely.  Netflix and iTunes for me.  There are better ways for them to get their marketing budgets spent.
