FYI: Those looking to photograph the wild flowers in Southern California

I saw another thread asking about where to photograph these (which I'll answer in a few)... however for the rest of you, here are some tips as we just went yesterday.  To say it was a mad house would be an extreme understatement.  There are a number of places you can go to view these:  Lake Elsinore, Laguna and Antelope Valley are a few.

We went to Lake Elsinore.

Reports were showing to get there before 10:30am.  We arrived at 9:20am.  Both sides of the 15 freeway were literally at a near stop for about 15 miles.  They do have shuttles, however those have 1.5+ hour wait after you manage to find parking.

From what I have read, there was 50,000+ people who showed up yesterday alone.  You'll need to watch out for rattle snakes, one person got bit by one.  Many of the attendee's aren't paying attention, from what I heard someone got hit by a car, and there were a number of accidents.

As you'll see just in this small are near where I was, cars are lined up on the side of the 15 freeway.  Mobs of people walking up into the hills to view and photograph these flowers.  Turns out many cars blocked signs (which we noticed on the way back to car) that warn of trespassing.  Actually as we were leaving, there was police arriving and trying to get folks off the freeway.  There were miles of cars lined up on the side of the freeway.

Moving forward, once you managed to get there, the scene was nothing like I've ever seen before.  Rolling hills of orange, green, purple, yellow and white.

The only challenge is you have majority there who are clueless and are walking on the flowers, jumping in the middle of these patches for photos.

That just looks like a mess.  I would wait or go super early in the morning.
