Buy whats available NOW or wait for new camera release?

Um, this is bad advice, if taken at face value. I think you mean wait to buy new technology, and get what you need today?

How is that bad advice?  Isn't this thread personal opinion based on what we all do?  Personally I don't buy when things first come out either.

If you read the statement as written, it can be interpreted as "always wait for new technology". Without substantiation/justification/explanation, it's bad (read: vacuous) advice.

IMO, of course, as I'm not an early adopter.

I can see that from both ways.  Waiting on new tech can save you headaches with long lines (if retail like Apple).  You let others be the test subjects to report the bugs and product short comings.  I'm not a big jump on latest tech sort of person either.  I have no problem waiting.  Now if I NEED it, that's whole different story.

If I need something, a camera, watch, computer, phone, et al ... more often than not I'll purchase the latest and greatest.  If it is brand new and I need the item, I won't wait.  But I won't buy something just because it's new ... but I will buy something if the newer item has a significant upgrade to what I have.

I shoot Fuji.  I immediately upgraded from the XT1 16mp sensor to the newer XT2 24mp sensor.  The latest upgrade by Fuji addresses the focus but uses the same sensor ... consequently I didn't upgrade.

There are photographs everywhere. It is the call of photographers to see and capture those images.

Putting aside the biggest factor: Need

IF I don't NEED something right at that moment, I won't buy just because it's new.  If I do need what ever it is, then sure, I'll pick it up.

Oh come on, I can't be the only one here who has bought something photography related on impulse before.  I'm not saying it happens all the time.  But if we are being honest here, I think more of  you have bought something on impulse before.  2 years ago I bought a set of Pocket Wizards, I had no need for them at the time, but I was in B&H in NYC and I overheard someone else talking about them, I asked a couple questions, and I walked out of there with a set of them.
