L-Bracket need if tripod head permits angle?

Hey gang, if you have. tripod head that has the deep notch in one side of it, allowing the camera to come down horizontal to the ground, is there a need for even having a L bracket?

There are two reasons I got all my 4 bodies a L bracket.

First, I don't like to switch to vertical frame and to have
to readjust the tripod position and its height. With the
bracket, I only have to set the camera and I'm done!

Second, it is a great physical protection against bumps
of any kind.
Light is free… capturing it is not!

L brackets also let you keep the weight centered over the legs so it's more stable. It also gives you more flexibility in adjusting the camera position and is actually quicker than just flopping the head over.

If you get the right L bracket, it's going to fit snug and will protect your camera.  I like it for the extra grip, plus when you move your orientation with the ball head, it takes more time to level the camera than just having the tripod already leveled and using a L bracket.  This allows you to move back and forth from landscape to portrait in fraction of the time.  You'll really appreciate this most during night time shooting.

L Bracket was one of the best investments I made into my photography.  You don't need to fuss with your tripod ball head each time.  Once you try it, you'll see what everyone is talking about.

 Borrow someone's L bracket for a day and you'll not want to give it up.  Option B is to buy one with Amazon or Adorama, someplace that has bullet proof return policy, buy it, try it, and know that if you don't like it, you can return it.  I'll bet you won't want to give it up.

Remy do yourself a favor, just get a L bracket.  If you bounce between Portrait and Landscape often, you'll appreciate having one in the first weekend.

Malleability of the metal, precision in machining, fit. How will it fits into a tripod head. Does it allow proper access to the panels on the camera without needing to be removed?

Is a "name" involved?

All that said, in general, I find that some of the more expensive products are clearly superior. YMMV.

Cheap ones use less needed materials like rubber used to keep the bracket locked in place.

I plan on getting one, they are very helpful.  I have only used one for short period.  Actually it wasn't even mine, it was mine friends tripod and set up that I used for day last month.
