Wow. Did you really just type that?

We don't use apostrophes in plurals.

Yeah, it was a joke.

Clarification: I don't subscribe to the notion that some racial epithets are okay and others are not. No matter who or where they come from.

Let me clarify again, it wasn't meant to be racial in anyway.  In terms of racial bs that is often used for certain ethnic groups, saying "Pedro" is not considered one.  I have a low tolerance for racial bs myself, and I wouldn't say something with that intent (my family were immigrants to this country back in the day and plenty of names you can call me).

So if you perceived it that way, my apologies.  I was trying to be funny and I didn't mean to offend or hurt anyones feelings.

Tragic, I hope it wasn't terrorist related.  I've been keeping an eye on the news.  What is amazing is how the country pulled together and raised the $$ so fast.

I saw much of it that afternoon while it was happening; I remember noticing light in the spire and then realized what it was. Awful to watch it happening and they couldn't easily get up there to it. Since then their fire brigade (that I think is part of the military) released video of the firefighting they were doing inside the cathedral, and they seem to have been able to remove all the relics, paintings, etc.

Apparently the fire was up where restoration was going on and I wonder if that kept it from damaging any more than it did of the interior. They were talking to employees and doing an investigation so there will probably be more information released when the invesigation is complete.

I was surprised the next day that it wasn't worse than it was; I'd expected it to be gutted, not to still have pews etc. intact, although I'm sure there's a lot of fire and water damage, etc. It's surely going to be a long process of restoration but the fundraising seems to be coming in from all over the world.
