Printing metal prints from your home or send out?

Hey guys, I got a strange one for you.  I did a search but didn't find the answer that was clear enough for me.  If I wanted to print on metal myself, I would need to pick up a heat press and buy an Epson to convert to dye sublimation.

Do you have any experience in creating metal prints from your home?  Would be great to to be able to do so, I would sell these locally and offer online.  Thinking I could offset the cost and make more $$ than sending out.

Thoughts on what is specifically needed?  Am I right in the above?

I can't comment on the equipment needed, but have enough metal prints in my home and have watched the print shops make some of these and will say there is little to no room for error in this process.  A tiny piece of dirt or dust can mess up a final print.

Whenever I get involved in DIY Projects like this, the one issue that I sometimes fail to calculate is the cost of materials and time trying to get it right. How much does the material cost? Is it cheap enough you can repeat the process if you fail a few times?

I believe that metal prints are the same emulsion transfer process as any other surface. There are companies out there that supply the materials.

But I wouldn't do it. Printing on paper is enough for me. Everything, I use a vendor.

Never even thought about this process.  I have metal prints in my home as well.  I got them from BayPhoto.  I assumed these sort of printers would be huge.
