Removing A Fly from ‘Weather Sealed’ Canon 70-200mm lens

Now this is just one interesting story.  This lens was just serviced 15 months prior and when you look at the level of depth this thing was in the lens, it's hard to imagine how it got in there?  I agree with the Lensrental guy  that  perhaps he made it in as a maggot.  But still, I didn't see him remove the cocoon shell from that either.

He does do some interesting test to see if you notice the fly from an optical stand point.  Good read -

How do you think the fly got in there?

That is one of the most bizarre things I have seen.  It had to have creeped in there as a maggot.  No other explanation.  Still strange though.

What??

Ok, unless the fly was planted there.

I’ll need to come back to this later today when I have more time to read it!

That was very interesting.  But what would have caused the maggot to be on the lens to begin with?  What are the odds of finding that small entry?

Those odds are way out there.  I have never seen anything like this before.  Well it made for an interesting article.

I slept on this idea last night and I'm wondering if this was planted in hopes of a viral video among the photography community that would lead to more awareness for their rental house.  The odds are so slim, more like non existent that this maggot would be on the lens to start with, then happen to find the tiny hole big enough to get into the lens, THEN to survive in the lens long enough to become a fly.

Just doesn't add up for me.

Sorry but I'm going to say this was made up and staged.

I read that and feel the same as you.  Just too many nearly impossible variables at play to make this real.  You have a better chance winning the lottery twice in a row than this happening.

Well, I'm going to say this is a far fetch story to buy.  Just to far out there.

I have to say, I'm going to be a tough one to sell on this too.  Just certain parts don't line up and I'm not one for these sort of odds and chance to colloid.

What?   Come on, this is so planted.  Not a chance in you know what.

In any case, not acceptable… like a fly in the soul!

Light is free… capturing it is not!
