Watching this video, you can't help to want to praise the gimbal on that drone, this footage is smooth considering that had to been strong winds and a workout for the drone even at the distance it was from the tornado.  Good find!

And I see you guys did a feature on it   https://www.photographytalk.com/tornado-footage-captured-by-a-drone-chasing-it

I read this article this morning.  I was thinking the same thing about the drone, that must have been like a DJI Inspire or something.

I wonder if this person had a driver keeping him in range or line of sight of the tornado.  Seems like he must have been getting upwards of max distance range the receiver would be able to communicate and keep control of the drone.  Actually that is what I thought happened at the end.

Good video.

I watched this yesterday a couple times.  The drone pilot did a good job with tracking and keeping the camera in frame.

How fast do you think that tornado was traveling?

Are birds playing with it. really?

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Remember back in the day, the closest coverage to a tornado was a crappy video from a helicopter.  This is super clear and seems much closer.

VERY cool!
