Mounting Shure Lenshopper VP83F into hot shoe on camera with metal plate?

Not to ask a dumb question, but I just picked up one of these Shure Lenshopper mics and the base mount to this is made from uncoated brass.  Is that still OK to slide into the flash hot shoe on top of the camera or will that short something out?

Just set one layer of scotch tape to be on the safe side!

That's a good idea, but metal on metal might tear after a couple times.  I would prefer not to risk my camera over a piece of scotch tape.

This might help:  https://www.shure.com/en-US/performance-production/louder/6-tips-for-getting-better-audio-for-video-with-vp83-and-vp83f-lenshopper-microphones

They have mounted directly on top of that Canon shown.  I don't think you'll have any issues.

Kent, I experience zillions of situations where my gear
had to do with improvised solutions to get the job do-
ne, and simple one may not last long but if they work!
