Wireless audio receiver built into camera?

Is anyone putting wireless audio receivers built into their cameras?  Just wondering how much longer 3.5mm will be around.  When you look at how small for example the recent Rode Go system is.  Seems like a nice feature that would be useful to many videographers.

Agree?

No. There are multiple wireless systems, and multiple audio systems. Why would a camera manufacturer tie themselves to a single solution, when a cheap jack is universal?

Just because mobile phones don't think standard jacks are useful doesn't mean everyone else does.

Not every mic requirement can be address by the Rode Go.

I'll add: The Rode Go system can be hooked up to a field recorder, a still camera, a video camera, a mixer, whatever you need for a given situation. Why restrict to a single camera?

Unless there's some facet here that hasn't occurred to me.

Always wondered why Fuji insists on the 2.5mm connector instead of the standard 3.5mm. Maybe they feel it puts less stress on the board if the cable gets a stiff jerk. Nothing to do with this topic but just curious.

Because, 2 words:   Technology Evolution

Canon 5D Mark II | Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM | Canon 35L | Sigma 85 1.4 | Helios 44M-6 58mm(M42) | Zeiss 50mm 1.4 (C/Y) | Canon 135L | (2) 430EX II

We're not talking about technology evolution, we're talking about product evolution. I don't see those as the same thing. The first is evidenced by the wireless mic system. The second is evidenced by combining two things to (allegedly) solve a problem. And just because you can, doesn't mean you should, that it makes sense, or that the market wants it. Thus, claiming 'technology' does not counter anything I wrote.

Just like the thread about wirelessly charging camera batteries. Sure, it's possible. Does anyone care? Not here on PT, so far as responses indicate.
