Do I Need a Supplemental Lens?

Hi

So I have done a lot of research and I am pretty much set on purchasing this Sony A6400 with this 18-135mm kit lens here

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/review...135mm-f-3-5-5-6-oss-lens-black/6324859?page=2

My question is, the 18-135mm lens that this comes with from what I hear is a very capable lens. We have an Alaskan cruise that's coming up next week, so obviously I will be shooting a lot of landscape and wildlife shots. I will also be shooting portraits of my wife. Can this lens do it all or should I buy an additional lens to supplement?

Thanks guys!

You won't be able to do much with wildlife with that lens. It takes a loooong lens to do decent wildlife images. If you don't mind showing people a speck in the image and telling them it was a bear or moose, then you will be fine. That lens will handle all other subjects just fine. Just a heads up. Shooting a long lens and wildlife is not as easy as most think. There are a lot of things to consider other than just sticking on a long lens and snapping away. Enjoy the new camera and the trip. Don't fret much over what you can't shoot.

And get the camera ASAP and start practicing. You don't want to be futzing with the controls when you need to be shooting. You should already have it in your hands, frankly.

Sony makes a 100-400mm lens that might be suitable. You could rent one... if there's time to get it to you.

And if you haven't bought the a6400 already, consider the a6500 as you will get IBIS build in, so that will help with getting much sharper images.
