Hoodman eyecup in hot weather?

4 years 11 months ago #644383 by Eric A
Do you know if these get sticky or uncomfortable during warmer weather?  I'm thinking about ordering one, but just thought about warmer weather coming and if these get uncomfortable?

I don't like looking through my viewfinder and having the peripheral brightness going on.  Someone was telling me about these eye cups.  So might try if bearable during warmer days.

My Camera Bag:

Canon 7D | 50mm f/1.2 | 17-40mm f/4 | 70-200mm f/2.8 | 320EX | 580EXII

I've never heard anyone that uses one complain, about that or anything else about it. And that applies to both those that wear glasses and those that don't.

YMMV. It's $20, right?

Yep $20 bucks.  I get it.  It's not much.  But $20 bucks is $20 bucks.

Thanks for chiming in!

I had an eyecup on every camera I've owned since the D90 till my D850.  It wasn't till recently that I finally got tired of the size and removed it.  It's an awesome product, and living in California, I'm surrounded by warm summers.  I didn't have any problems with using this and sweat.

I use eyecups and love'm… not the Hoodman though.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I had to Google to see what this was.  How in the world would you use something like this if you wear glasses?

Hoodman makes an oversize one specifically for use with glasses.  I use it ... all the time.  Works great!

Are these mainly for those wearing glasses?

I do wear glasses for reading and close-up work, but not when looking through the camera view finder. I've adjusted the focus of my view finder to give me a clear view when not wearing my glasses. Anyone else trying to look through my view finder will not see much, unless they re-focus the view finder from my setting. I use one of these eye cups mostly to block out surrounding bright light, like Sunlight, so I can better see what I'm about to shoot. With more rubber there, it keeps your eye more protected when the camera gets bumped in crowds too. I depend on mine so much that I keep a spare in my bag.
