$20 SLR Find

I decided to impulse buy a Canon Eos Rebel 2000 SLR from a flea market the other day. $20 and it came with the kit lens, a 2x teleconverter, and a really nice carrying bag (among assorted junk left behind). I got some CR2 batteries for it and it appears that everything is in working order. The camera seems to have been make in 1999 based on the manual, and it seems it went out of service in about 2004 based on the expiration date of that Trident, although it could have just been forgotten. Photos were taken with my Nikon D3300 (kit lens).

$20?  Seems like you'll be able to sell that and make a little profit if you wanted too.

Nice find for the price, should be fun to run a test roll thru it and see what you get. Just the nice strap and case are worth more than what you paid, that and a lens too. And you took some really nice photos of it, hope you enjoy it.

Well, I just got my first roll of film developed and scanned the negatives with my DSLR. Unfortunately, it seems there's a light leak :( . I'm pretty sure it's because the latches that hold the back panel have grown a little weak (a similar fate with the flash). I don't think I'm gonna use this camera much; it's seen a lot of usage already, so I think an easy retirement would be fitting. These are some of my favorite photos from the roll (of the ones that are usable anyway). I threw in a few that showed the light leaks which I find interesting in a way.

Also, I realize the colors of some of the photos are bit off. I think these are accurate to what was imprinted on the film.

I wonder why some had the leak and others didn't?

I think it's because the back panel doesn't quite latch fully, so there's a little gap. I noticed this while I was shooting with it, so I tried to hold it in place. Guess it worked. Maybe a little tape would solve it ;) .

The camera looks so well maintained.
