Will you buy camera gear listed as Open Box?

4 years 11 months ago #644971 by Chuck Liley
Simple question as the title opens up.  Buying camera gear being sold as open box.  I was in Cost Co over the weekend and they had Nikon D7500 in there that was being sold as open box.  I didn't know Cost Co sold open box stuff, but the price wasn't too bad.  I was thinking about getting this camera for my wife or second camera body.

Have you bought open box before?  How was that experience?

Sure I did! As long as the content is all there, the
guaranty is full and the incentive just right! :P

Heck yes, if it's a good deal, I would have no problem buying something that has been opened already and still has warranty.

I buy most of my gear used, refurbished or open box. Nice savings on the latter for a like new piece of gear with warranty. I don't hesitate to buy open box items!

Most of my F-Mount lenses were purchased used.  I have a Sony E mount lens I bought used.   For me, as long as the price looks good and the item checks out, I'm OK with buying used or open box for lenses.  Camera bodies are what I prefer to buy new.

+2, most of my stuff was purchased 2nd hand.  Now on that topic, I  haven't found the right 'Open Box' deal.  However wouldn't have any  problems with it at all.  My used stuff has been purchased from KEH.com, MPB.com and Craigslist.

I’ve bought open box from Best Buy and have bought used gear from KEH and MPB.  That is being smart with your money if you want my 2cents.

If the quality is good, and warranty still in tack. Heck yeah I would.

For me if it checks out and the gear is legitimate with no problems yes. I would have no problem buying secondhand or open box.

Yeah, many times.  Assuming it's a good deal, warranty and I need it.

Depends on:

1. who's selling it
2. what the warranty looks like
3. condition of item
4. price (this should be on the top)
5. anything missing

Most cases, I'll buy if its a good deal.

Yes for the same reasons.  Circuit City use to have tons of good open box deals back when they were around.
