Will you buy camera gear listed as Open Box?

Depends on what it is and how much they knock off. Can I look at the item and tell that it is in 100% new & working condition? Because if I can't .. I'm not going to trust the word of some employee. That means there is a potential risk that I might have to waste my time coming back .. waiting at returns .. maybe not getting a replacement and having to go back home and order another one. If it's an online open box even worse because then I'm shipping back n forth instead of walking in a store. So with that .. how much am I saving? ... $5 doesn't cut it. I spend more than that on a cup of coffee. In fact anything under $100 doesn't mean much to me personally because of the potential hassle. I need to save bigger to make it worth my time if something goes wrong. I can remember getting a $2400 body for like $1600 and I bought a $1500 lens for maybe $900-ish ... things like that. I've bought some manufacturer refurbs and been lucky (not in-store or individual refurbs).

Preferably not.  I just like fresh new when I can.

If the product is in good shape,  like new and it has a warranty. Yeah why not? I have bought a few things over the years as open box.  I even bought an open box TV a few years back from Best Buy, actually it might have been Circuit City.  No problems at all, it last 7 years.

Nikon D300 24-70mm f2.8
70-200mm f2.8
50mm f1.4 & 50mm f1.8
105mm f2.8
2 SB800

You would be not wise to not consider a good deal, though open box.  If the item checks out, and is a good deal, buy it.
