Wrangel island to photograph polar bears

2 months 1 week ago #646824 by Scott Klubeck
Hey guys, one more question.  As I'm looking for new places to go to this year.  Have any of you gone to Wrangel island to photograph the polar bears?

I'm so on the fence with where I want to go.  I seem to recall hearing about this place.  But don't seem to find a lot of reviews.

Look at the windows on the house!   www.amusingplanet.com/2018/11/wrangel-is...-of-polar-bears.html

My neighbor went there in 2016, said it's crazy with the amount of polar bears up there.  I guess it's the most dense population of where these bears live.

I had to Google that one.  The place looks interesting, man I found some workshops heading up that way, those rates are no joke!  $24k for a workshop?  Way out of my budget, if I want to photograph polar bears, I'll have to pay the $27 for a day pass at my local zoo.

But looking at that link you sent, I wonder what people do up there when they need to leave their house and Yogi is out side the door waiting for them?

Taking pictures of PB in summer is out for Canadians.

This is the time they can't feed properly, are the less active
— but not less dangerous — and quite dirty since they lay on
dirt and not on snow.

If you want glorious pictures, wait for the glorious times in late
autumn and winter, when the sea is frozen. Have a good time!

One day for me, one day!  I think polar bears are one of the most stunning creatures on this planet!

All north american bears are, Tim. Our bears are spectacular in
many ways and I learned to hold them in highest esteem. I even
named my operations after one of them.

The easiest time to see any bears is mosquito time… big time!

Have you seen the bears during salmon runs in Alaska?

Yes, and I made a "friend" in a young and adorable Kodiak female
that was so pretty — big and scary at times. I know I was in safety
but my organs were changing places… so impressive.

Polar bears are no joke.  Did you see this video posted by BBC last year?

I am safe at home and at my screen, watching again that
video. My organs still wanna change places…

Though the cage has proven strong enough, I will never
push my luck that far. His organs changed places too!

Polar bears grow up with the idea that there is not enough
room on this planet for it and you!

It's over, let's cool down!

I knew polar bears were big, but didn't realize they were that BIG!  2200 lbs is huge.  That is size of small car!

I'm amazed how people live up there.  Those spikes on the window speak chapters about what life must be like.  I'll stick to just visiting!
